Ground Coriander is the dry fruits from the coriander plant and have a lemony citrus flavor when crushed. You find it in many items like curries, sausages, rye bread, meats in Asian and European cuisine.
Coriander, common name of the seed of Coriandrum sativum, a feathery annual herb of the family Apiaceae. Native to the Mediterranean and Middle East regions. The herb is cultivated in Europe, Morocco, and the United States for its seeds. Which are to flavor many foods, particularly sausages, curries, Scandinavian pastries, liqueurs, and confectionery, such as English comfits.
In Latin American, Indian, and Chinese dishes the use of the leaves are found. Records of the use of coriander date to 5000 BC. In Roman times the use of coriander was to flavor breads.
It was once used as an aromatic and carminative, but its only modern use in medicine is to mask unpleasant tastes and odors of drugs. The aroma of Coriander is warm, nutty and spicy. It has a fresh, green, tangy and even citrusy taste.
