Dehydrated Green Bell Peppers

Diced or dehydrated green bell peppers flakes are a tasty addition to soups, sauces, stews, stuffing, chili and many other dishes.

The bell pepper also known as sweet pepper, pepper or capsicum is a cultivar group of the species Capsicum annuum Cultivars of the plant produce fruits in different colors, including red, yellow, orange, green, white, and purple. Bell peppers are sometimes grouped with less pungent pepper as sweet peppers.

The bell pepper is the only member of the genus Capsicum that does not produce a chemical. That can cause a strong burning sensation when it comes in contact with mucous membranes. The lack of capsaicin in bell peppers is from of a gene that eliminates the hot taste usually associated with the rest of the genus Capsicum.  A hybrid variety of bell pepper that produces small amounts of capsaicin. Sweet pepper cultivars produce non-pungent capsaicinoids.

The genus Capsicum comprises all the varied forms of fleshy-fruited peppers. Grown as herbaceous annuals-the red, green, and yellow peppers.
