Anise Extract Pure
Often used as a flavoring in cooking Anise Extract Pure has a strong, slightly sweet licorice flavor. It contains an aromatic compound known as anethole. Fennel, tarragon and licorice itself also contain anethole. Most varieties of anise extract are pure and made with all natural ingredients, although some may contain artificial licorice flavoring. In addition to its culinary uses, anise has long been used medicinally. Its active ingredient anethole can help clear mucus and have an expectorant effect on the body.
Anise extract is popular in baked goods from around the world, and sometimes used to flavor liquor and herbal liqueurs like absinthe, anisette and Pernod liqueurs. Furthermore, and perhaps most popular, anise extract is frequently used to flavor cookies. You can also substitute Anise oil, anise seeds, or star anise pods for the extract when none is at hand.
Pure Anise Extract is available in 1 Gallon., 16 oz., 8 oz. and 4 oz. sizes plastic bottles.
